T&E Programme Delivery

In flight aircraft refuelling

Flight testing is a significant part of any aircraft development programme. Through the LTPA, MOD customers can reduce their flight test programme costs and mitigate procurement risk while still meeting project requirements and delivery dates.

We conduct flight trials for almost every aircraft type and size: helicopters, fast jets, heavy and light aircraft and unmanned aerial vehicles. We have extensive expertise covering every aircraft system, its performance and testing, including weapons, mission systems, electromagnetic compatibility, safety-critical software and human factors.

We also deliver specialist test programmes to extend the aircraft envelope, such as air-to-air refuelling, air drop, climatic testing and ship helicopter operating limits. All our development trials are approved by the Design Approved Organisation Scheme (DAOS).

Working in partnership with qualified test pilots from the Air Warfare Centre under the Air Test and Evaluation Collaboration (ATEC) banner, trials are conducted on the ‘test once, use many times’ principle. Data is gathered as part of an integrated test team and can be used by manufacturers to certify their aircraft, and by MOD to support its safety requirements. The result is a more efficient programme, with aircraft or systems fielded earlier and at lower cost.
