MOD Rosneath and MOD Barons Point
MOD Rosneath and MOD Barons Point are located in the southwest of Scotland on the Firth of Clyde. Magnetic signatures are recorded, analysed and the static magnetic signature of steel surfaces optimised using these ranges.
9m and 20m Magnetic Open Sea Ranges are installed at Green Isle Rosneath, just off the Rosneath Peninsula near Perch Rock. They are next to the sea-channel that most ships and submarines use when travelling into Gareloch and Faslane.
MOD Barons Point
This range is at Cove, just off the mouth of Loch Long. The range collects data from ships and submarines by means of sensors permanently laid on the seabed. The sensors are wired to seabed junction boxes, and are wired back to the shore by cables that are laid permanently on the seabed.
